The English language has 26 alphabets. 5 out of these 26 alphabets are vowels i.e. a, e, i, o, and u, and the rest are called consonants. However, in some cases, y is also considered a vowel and called an honorary vowel but it is not a vowel in itself. The vowel is the letter and the sound of the vowel alphabets that involve the vibration of the vocal chord. <\/p>\n
So what purpose does the vowel serve? When a vowel is paired with a consonant it makes a syllable. For example:<\/p>\n
Hot – H and T are the consonants and O is the vowel.
\nTin – T and N are the consonants and I is the vowel.
\nBat – B and T are the consonants and A is the vowel.\n<\/p><\/div>\n
